Why is it called Kardashian Salad?

This viral La Scala Salad has actually been around since the 1950s! It was created by Jean Leon, the owner of La Scala, a famous Beverly Hills restaurant known for its Italian chopped salad. Rumor has it the Kardashians and other celebrities love it, so of course, I had to make a copycat version at home. It’s fresh, crunchy, full of flavor, and so good with a side of focaccia bread!

How to Make La Scala Salad

Super quick and easy, this famous salad is perfect as a side or even a light main dish. It comes together fast and always impresses with its fresh, vibrant flavors. Try my Grinder Salad or Grinder Sliders, for the same flavors!

  1. Make the Dressing: In a medium bowl, add the olive oil, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and grated Romano cheese. Whisk until combined.
  2. Mix the Salad Ingredients: In a large bowl, add the chopped lettuce, chickpeas, salami, red onion, and shredded mozzarella cheese. Pour the dressing over the salad ingredients and then gently toss to combine. Top La Scala salad with additional Romano cheese and red pepper flakes. Then serve immediately and enjoy!
