Negishi

Gyūtan grilled beef tongue is a local dish from #Sendai in the northern #Tohoku area. #Negishi is a chain here in #Tokyo. This one in the subterranean halls of #Kanda Station. Only ¥1,300 ($8.50).

The rice is mugimeshi, rice cooked with barley. Tororo, grated mountain potato with raw egg, is a slippery topping for the rice. Nice with a generous splash of soy sauce. The clear soup includes tender beef tongue and julienned leeks. The #tsukemono pickles are also from Tohoku including a miso cucumber and pickled greens.
