Sake Tasting

2 days ago 6

I’m often asked about where to learn about sake in Tokyo. We recently had a great class in Tokyo with Aaron of at @sakestudio.tokyo.

We tried seven different sakes over four courses with themes. Small bites are paired with the nihonshu.

It was fascinating to explore sake at different temperatures, sake from the same brewery made with two different yeasts, and more.

The sakes are free pours so as much as you would like to drink. Some highlights included @wakanami_sakebrewery, #Isojiman, #Rihachi, @miho_fujita_yuho, @hanatomoe_official, @aramasa.koseki, @umenoyadoshuzo, @kidoizumi.shuzou, and @sicx.kyoto.distillery.

The class is held in a cool space in Kanda. Aaron is very personable and knowledgeable. My friends are new to sake and both loved the class. I have worked in retail sake for two years at Takashimaya and I also enjoyed the class.

We did a private class for the three of us for 59,000 yen ($400). There are also group classes offered on weekends. I believe Aaron said 7,000 yen per person (I could be wrong so check with him). The private class is exactly what we were looking for and we all loved it.

Tell Aaron I sent you.
