Tsurutontan in Ginza is an udon specialty restaurant on the 10th floor of the Tokyu Plaza Ginza mall. The udon is served in enormous bowls that are dramatic, especially if you pick up the bowl to drink the broth.
It’s a lovely restaurant for both solo diners and groups. Check out the cool table I could share with friends visiting from down under.
I love the seasonal menu which this month included a collagen rich creamy chicken udon served in a piping hot stone bowl.
My girlfriend had the onion potage with Mexican flavors. Tsurutontan has traditional udon with tempura, fried tofu, and also a menu that includes some small plates including sashimi.
Tsurutontan has several branches in Tokyo including at Haneda Airport. The menu changes a bit at each restaurant.
